Why we switched from Premiere to DaVinci Resolve

Premiere Pro has been the standard in the video world for many years. Also for us. Until we felt: this is holding us back. Not in terms of speed, but in terms of vision. In this blog, we explain why we at Blueprint Studios have completely switched to DaVinci Resolve — and why we never want to go back.

Software does not determine who you are as a creator. But it can limit who you dare to become.

At Blueprint Studios, everything is about control: over rhythm, color, atmosphere, and feeling. We want every detail to be perfect — from the first frame to the last second. But after years in Adobe Premiere, we noticed that we were increasingly making compromises. Not on our vision, but on the tool that was supposed to execute it.

And that's where DaVinci Resolve makes a difference.

1. Color is not an afterthought, but integral

Color grading is not an afterthought for us — it is a leading role. In Premiere, grading is functional. In DaVinci, it's a craft. The difference in nuance, precision, and control is enormous. And exactly what we need to take our work to the highest level.

2. One ecosystem = more focus

Resolve combines editing, grading, audio, and compositing in one environment. No constant exports between tools. No hassle with XMLs. Everything is connected — allowing us to remain in flow.

And when you're in flow, magic happens.

3. Stability you can feel

Every editor knows it: crashes, hiccups, renders freezing. Resolve is built on stability. Even with heavy projects, the system feels light. That means less frustration, more focus on the creative.

4. Audio = storytelling

With Fairlight (the audio tool within Resolve), we can not only edit sound but also build it dramaturgically. Subtle details, sound layers, surround mapping — everything is within reach. So that audio is not a side issue, but becomes storytelling.

5. Conscious learning curve

Switching was not easy. But that was exactly the intention. We had to rethink our way of working. And that process made us sharper, more conscious, and ultimately better.

Conclusion

DaVinci Resolve is not just software for us, but a mindset. It forces you to appreciate precision. To feel rhythm. To use color as a language. And above all: not to settle for “good enough.”

At Blueprint, we believe: if you create something with vision, you deserve tools that can fully support that vision.
